Manchester United have kept a hold of Paul Pogba and, now that the Premier League transfer window has been shut, they’ll be even less likely to sell him and this could lead Real Madrid to investigate a move for Neymar.
The Frenchman was Zinedine Zidane‘s transfer priority this season, but he hasn’t gotten his man.
Although Los Blancos are more in need of a midfielder than a winger, signing Paris Saint-Germain‘s superstar could be a statement by the Spanish club now that they surely won’t be spending big money on Pogba.
As MARCA has reported, Donny Van de Beek has already agreed to sign for Real Madrid as a cheaper option to cover the midfield void.
Neymar, meanwhile, has asked to leave PSG, who are not eager to deal with Barcelona, who are one of the two clubs that could afford to meet the player’s salary demands.
The other club is Real Madrid and, should Los Blancos manage to cash in on Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Mariano, then they would be able to reinvest the money on Neymar, whose acquisition they have pursued several times in the past.
Moreover, with Takefusa Kubo close to joining Real Valladolid on loan and with Rodrygo Goes being considered more as a Real Madrid Castilla player than a first-team option, a non-EU slot is available for the Brazil international.
PSG and Los Blancos maintain a healthy and stable relationship and, although they haven’t entered in negotiations in regards to Neymar‘s future yet, anything could happen before the European transfer market comes to a close.
